A very unique competition run at the Games is the annual Blairgowrie v Rattray Community Tug of War.
Using what is quite possibly the longest known Tug of War rope in Europe (if not the world), it is approximately 700 feet in length, and can accommodate a large number of local residents from either side of the River Ericht. They then contest in the best of 3 pulls, to decide who is the annual winner (and gets the bragging rights for the next year).
This is merely for pride, owing to the variety of residents who take part.
In addition to the community Tug of War, Blairgowrie & Rattray Highland Games also host an Open Tug of War, where teams from all over the country can come to take part. Again, each contest is the best of 3 pulls, with all the teams pulling against each other (in a round robin format),to then decide who becomes the overall winner of the competition.
The winners of this year's competition, can be found in the main results.
